Twelve Year project comes to fruition
Countdown the final 30 days
July 15th will mark the end of a 12 year writing project in which I will have written notes about the West Cliff Green, Bournemouth every day.
Since I moved to the West Cliff area in 2011 I have been keeping a daily record of the West Cliff Green open space. This magical place is one of those liminal, largely unrecorded spaces that are so important to the wellbeing of those who chance upon it or who depend upon it for their recreaton. I have made notes of the wild life, weather, the people and, occasionally, less attractive features.
The Project started as part of a daily writing exercise on social media. Over that time these little poetic paragraphs became read around the world. Two years ago, with encouragement from my readers, I decided to try and fill in all the gaps in this undertaking so that there would be a complete 365 day year round record of the West Cliff Green. Over the past year I have been uploading these in my daily blog “From the Green” on my website.
On July 15th I will have completed a cycle which will then cover every single day of the year. Altogether there are well over a thousand entries including many notes from earlier years. After July 15th I will leave this record on my website for anybody to read in the future.

I have also written about the West Cliff Green in my series of fiction podcast stories “From the Cliff Edge” and much of my poetry.
